Carroll County taxpayers ranked 84th in total sales taxes paid per county in March, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, residents paid $99,340 in sales taxes during March.

The county ranked 85th in the Prairie State the month before, with $80,195 spent in sales taxes.

The largest share of sales taxes paid by Carroll County residents in March came from the County Sales Tax.

The County Sales Tax is a local sales tax imposed on retail sales of goods and services within a specific county. It is one of the primary sources of revenue for county governments, funding a wide range of essential services, including education, infrastructure, public safety, public health, and social services. The average rate imposed in Illinois is around 8.2%.
